Core Theme and purpose of the project
The core theme of the facility is to "Experience Infinity".
The purpose of the project is:
1. To provide visitors an experience in seeing infinity, with
a world-class Visitors Centre and views through worlds largest
visitor telescopes - 40" [1 meter].
2. Conduct world class research, make significant discoveries
and provide Canadian astronomers with the most powerful telescope
in Canada. The Madawaska Highlands Observatory also happens to be the premiere monolithic
wide-field telescope in the world.
The logo is based on the ancient Egyptian sky goddess NOOT. It
is ancient symbology and dates to early Egyptian predynastic times
(c. 3200 B.C.E). To the ancient Egyptians Noot was the personification
of the night sky and the heavens.
The icon in the address bar
is the hieroglyphic way to write Noot.
